For men, breast tissue has less lobules and mainly consists of fat tissue, says Kecia Gaither, M.D., director of perinatal services and maternal fetal medicine at NYC Health + Hospitals/Lincoln in the Bronx, NY. Men’s symptoms of breast cancer tend to be the same as in women, she says:
- Nipple discharge or retraction
- Pain and tenderness
- Redness around the nipple and on the skin
- Skin dryness or changes in texture
