Question of the day:
This is one that Breezy Mama (not only wonders, but…) receives a lot: Why do I still look pregnant 2 years later? Is that normal? Will my stomach ever flatten again? Fortunately, Dr. Kecia Gaither, Director of Maternal Fetal Medicine at Brooklyn’s Brookdale University Hospital and Medical Center, explains why and what to do.
After eating right, exercising and losing the weight, what is a medical reason that women might still look pregnant?
Diastasis recti is a condition where the abdominal muscles, (rectus muscles) stretch and separate. The condition is seen in women after pregnancy, and may become more pronounced after having multiple pregnancies.
There are exercises which may be able to strengthen the abdominal musculature…it would be prudent to consult with a physical therapist, or a certified trainer to accomplish this. In some instances surgical correction may become an option.
